| Technical Quality Assurance Analyst - Software Development Position Summary: The position as Quality Assurance Analyst requires a strong bias to structured testing approaches while working with an integrated team of developers, product implementation managers, and business analysts. This role will also include some level of support for intake coordination from the Client Help Desk, regarding product knowledge, change requests and defect tracking. The Analysts’ core responsibilities are to evaluate and test new (or modified) application features and functionality including software development procedures used to verify that the application functions according to the user requirements and technical specifications while conforming to established guidelines: They will also write, revise, and verify that Orbit’s quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation attain the highest degree of quality and efficiency in balance with cost effectiveness. A primary objective for this candidate will be to manage the complete testing process through the development and execution of test scenarios, including regression testing and problem reporting for Orbit’s COMPAS web application and other custom software applications that are in production. This position will also focus on communicating issue tracking and status through the generation of tickets and on-line reports, as well as the disposition of testing lifecycle phases and results. The successful candidate will be required to intelligently gather, assess and prioritize ALL issues tracked / received to improve the Quality of our application and delivery system across the complete lifecycle; Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Training & Maintenance, which may include internal and/or external Business Processes. Analytic in nature, systematic and thorough research is required to identify and recommend corrective action. Equally important is timely and knowledgeable follow-up through professional communications, ensuring that internal and external expectations are met or exceeded. Supporting our Client Help Desk requires this role to be responsible for ensuring client satisfaction is considered in every step of problem detection and resolution. Beginning with answering client phone and email inquiries, to tracking detailed information about each service need in our “On-Time” database application, to documentation of all diagnostic steps taken to troubleshoot reported problems, and finally to arrive at root cause analysis. Duties and Responsibilities: Essential to this role is a deep and demonstrated knowledge in software testing methodologies and of the application development lifecycle. These skills will be used to; • Design, implement and maintain test plans, scenarios, cases and scripts for various software product development efforts. • Perform unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, regression testing, functional testing, client acceptance testing, user interface testing, batch process testing, and production support testing of these various software products using the plans, tools, and scripts developed. • Participate in design specification reviews and technical documentation reviews is essential to performing the QA duties at the highest degree of efficiency and effectiveness • Construct various testing tools and scripts to be used by other team members supporting the testing lifecycle • Create testing and performance summary reports clearly communicating to management and clients all testing results • Help prioritize defects to be fixed using an understanding of the business requirements and the needs of the customer. • Contribute to the entire software development life cycle from initial business requirements to deployment, training and production support • Client Support via phone and e-mail • Design & development automated testing tools • Lead all technical testing efforts including integration testing, performance testing and batch testing • Ensure Quality of Service levels of software products through performance benchmarking • Provide production support of software products by investigating and recreating reported defects • Work with multiple database interfaces and be familiar with standard MS SQL application & database architectures • Develop to train other analysts in testing methodology and the software development life cycle • Assist in implementation of QA standards and continual improvement activities • Release management oversight for all customer release implementations • Assist in maintaining hardware, software, and configuration of System Test Lab Qualification Requirements: Education and Experience • Degree or Diploma in Software Engineering or Computer Sciences • Practical working knowledge of industry standard software testing methodologies • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Exceptional analytic, mathematical and problem solving skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • 3+ years experience in software testing and quality assurance field • 3+ years designing and implementing test plans, scripts, and scenarios and analyzing performance data • Demonstrated experience with Business Intelligence / Analytics Custom Software Applications preferred. • Any experience working in a call centre reporting environment would be valuable asset Technical Skills • Expert level proficiency in Excel is a must! • Expertise with Visio will be an asset, ability to learn quickly will be required • Familiarity with project management methodologies (six sigma, lean management) would be beneficial • Ability to write SQL a definite asset • Exposure to .NET not required but considered beneficial • Experience with an automated build tool such as Nant • Experience with unit testing software such as NUnit • Experience with code profiling tools • Experience with a web stress test tools • Expertise leading/managing an end to end Test environment • Must have experience managing Windows 2003 • Some experience managing SQL server 2005 in a test environment would be an asset • Proven experience performing Destructive testing • Able to build & test deployment packages • Able to perform deployments on-site or remotely | |
